Renamed Mala galerija (The Small Gallery) in 1952, the venue in the heart of the city centre established itself in the 1970s as an art centre, presenting smaller but carefully selected and resounding exhibitions by local and foreign artists to a wider audience. Between 1959 and 2011, its programme was overseen by the Museum of Modern Art Ljubljana. Today, Banka Slovenije’s exhibition room Mala galerija is conceived as an exhibition-education platform as its doors are open to presentations of student work in the fields of visual art, photography, design, architecture and landscape architecture in cooperation with the University of Ljubljana.
